Not Guilty Verdict for Gerrard

Why is it that celebrities seem to enjoy a legal status above and beyond the rest of us? According to Metro News, Liverpool’s Steven Gerrard has been found not guilty of affray after a trial at Liverpool Crown court which lasted for four days.
The jury heard evidence that Gerrard was prevented from playing his own choice of music by in-house DJ Mark McGee. Gerrard became infuriated when McGee refused to allow play his own music and pursued the DJ to a backroom and struck him in self-defence because he thought he was becoming aggressive towards him.
In any other court and with any other person in the dock, this defence would have been laughed out of court; but no – it’s really true, there’s one law for the rich and one law for the poor.
